BCES studs, certified Hour of Code completers

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – A total of 266 grades four to six students of Bo. Central Elementary School (BCES), successfully completed Level 14 of Mine Craft programming exercise, in support to Cong. Joet S. Garcia III’s initiative of encouraging everyone to learn computer science.

Bo. Central Elementary School is one of the public schools in the Division of Balanga City who participated in the week-long celebration of Computer Science Education Week from December 5 to 11. This covers one hour of basic coding activities of each intermediate pupil from Grades 4 to 6.

Miss Roxanne D. Rueda, school’s ICT Coordinator cascaded the information to BCES teachers regarding the mechanics of each level of programming exercise. “Upon completing the coding exercise, pupils are required to take a screenshot (by clicking the print screen button) of Level 14, before they can receive their Certificate of Completion”, explained Miss Rueda during the Pre-Orientation held at the school’s AVR.

Mr. Ramil R. Cubales, principal, accepted the challenge of posting 100% HOC completion rate among intermediate pupils (266 out of 266). This was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Grade Level Advisers: Mrs. Alita E. Dayrit (4-Rizal); Mrs. Editha R. Dela Pena (4-Bonifacio); Mrs. Anecia L. Rapiz (5-Magsaysay); Mrs. Rhodora Danieca Ann Fernandez (5-Macapagal); Mrs. Ria C. Subisol (6-Earth); and Mrs. Glenn-Joy S. Guila (6- Mercury).

“Nag-enjoy po talaga ako sa paglalaro ng Mine Craft. Challenging po yung level na may creeper at kukuha ng 3 redstones. Pero masarap po kapag natapos na ung Level 14 at nabigyan na ako ng certificate”, shared Dazzley S. Devis, HOC Finisher from 6-Earth.

There are 85 HOC Finishers from Grade Four, 83 from Grade Five and 98 from Grade Six. The 266 screen shots of each finisher submitted by the school served as their raffle entry to get the chance to win ten (10) Dell laptops as an incentive.
