BIR Bataan extends filing of ITR to April 17

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR-Bataan) on Monday announced that they are extending the last day of filing of the Philippine Annual Income Tax Returns (ITR) on April 17, a Monday.

This was confirmed by Revenue District Officer for RDO-20, Laura M. Salita and her administrative department chief Gemo Espinosa in an interview.

Earlier, the last day for the filing of ITRs this year falls on April 15 which happened to be a Black Saturday, the day after Good Friday.

The obligation to file income tax returns on or before April 17 applies to two classes of taxpayers, namely:

(a) Those earning purely compensation income including non-business or non-profession related income, and marginal income earners; and,

(b) Self-employed individuals, estates and trusts, including those with mixed income, i.e., compensation income and income from business and practice of the profession.

Meanwhile, taxpayers who derive their income solely from one employer and have been deducted the appropriate withholding tax for such income is spared the ordeal of filing income tax returns.

Under existing regulations, their employers are obliged instead to submit to the BIR, through an “alpha list,” the names of these employees, the compensation they received and the tax withheld from their salaries.

Espinosa added that since April 1 to 17, taxpayers can also go to their Tax Assistance Centers in five other places aside from their new office at the Capitol Drive in Barangay San Jose in this City.

BIR Bataan Tax Assistance Centers can be found with their respective personnel at the Galeria Victoria, (look for Aurora De Leon and Josefa Dominguez) Vista Mall Bataan (Therese Angelica Mendoza and Karen Paola Pinero), and at the municipal halls of Hermosa (Mary Grace Reyes and Peejay Polintan), Dinalupihan (Rosario Maninang and Corazon Salenga) and Limay (Jeremimah Reyes and Ann Marie Limcumpao).

The services that will be rendered by these tax centers are as follows: assistance in computation of income tax due; clarification on taxpayers queries; and dissemination of reminders to all taxpayers, mandated to file electronically.
