BPSU to launch Bataan spring water development project

“Spring water can be developed to support the need of the people of the province…”

BALANGA CITY, Bataan –
The Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) will soon launch the Bataan spring water development project.

Greg Rodis, now the BPSU president who conceptualized the project when he was still the university vice president, announced that they are set to form the project team with him as the project director for the spring water development in the province.

“Initially there must be an assessment of the location, utilization, and the flora and fauna of the natural springs all over the province”, said Rodis. “Biodiversity monitoring activities will be conducted on natural springs so we will need a biologist and a taxonomist in the team”.

“Protection and conservation efforts will be done. Proper farming technology, soil and water conservation approaches, and enrichment planting of indigenous species”, will be introduced, he further explained.

“We will be monitoring periodically whether the volume of spring water is increasing or decreasing after our interventions”, he said.

“Spring water can be developed to support the need of the people of the province for its many uses”, Rodis rationalized.

The project will include research and extension works that can stretch to five years. Currently, Bataan still doesn’t have a comprehensive record of its existing natural springs.
