ORANI, Bataan – The number of business establishments and collections in this fast developing first class municipality have dramatically increased. Based on figures gathered from the Municipal Treasurer’s Office, collections in 2007 was only P4,884,052.96 but this was more than doubled this year after collecting a total amount of P10,597,151.35. The collections for the months of November and December however, are not yet included in the report.
The total number of business establishments for this year is now 1,253. According to incumbent Mayor Benjie Serrano, the dramatic increase in the number of business establishments and collections is an indication of the high level of trust and confidence of the business sectors to invest here.
Last January, a total of P5,671,544.64 was collected from municipal licenses alone while in February the Treasurer’s office collected a total of P1,509,617.56.
In a related development, a Certificate of Recognition was awarded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to the municipality of Orani for its commitment towards good governance and for passing four (4) of the six (6) Local Governance Assessment areas for the year 2014, namely: Good financial housekeeping; Disaster preparedness; Business-friendliness and competitiveness; and Peace and order.
