Dinalupihan supports POPCEN 2015

DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – “You (Philippine Statistics Authority census staff) should make courtesy calls to barangay officials. I am open to communicating with them if there will be major problems to be encountered” is the firm account of Mayor Maria Angela S. Garcia’s message to the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015) during the ceremonial interview at the Mayor’s Office, at the town’s Municipal Hall last August 10.

The ceremonial interview, though conducted to show to the Municipal Government’s support to the 2015 POPCEN as information campaign, shall be regarded as her official listing and enumeration at her residence in Barangay Rizal. Further, data collected from the interview shall be kept strictly confidential under section 26 , Republic Act 10625.

Team Supervisor (TS) James Ednel Valencia handled the interview. Head Census Area Supervisor (CAS) Maria Rosario C. Dela Rosa, Hired CAS Carmelita Guerrrero and Enumerator Marjorie Dagal were present during the interview.

Being the Chairperson of the Municipal Census Coordinating Board (MCCB), Mayor Gila provided the venue during the 4th level training and other facilities for census related activities. PSA also sought the assistance of the DepED Dinalupihan, through PSDS Ronie S. Mendoza who is a member of MCCB, for the use of San Ramon Elementary School to accommodate another class for the same training.

POPCEN 2015 started last August 10. Enumerators will continue to knock on the Bataenos’ doors until September 6, 2015. Every building and housing units will be canvassed in the 47 barangays of Dinalupihan to determine households to ask census questionnaire. The questions: P1 – Name of the household member; P2 – Relationship to the household head; P3 – Sex; P4 – Date of birth; P5 – Age; P6 – Whether a member’s birth was registered at the LCR Office; P7 – Copy of birth certificate; P8 – Marital status; and P9 – Religious affiliation, will be asked for all persons.

There are 99 census staff, composed of 5 CASs, 21 TSs and 73 enumerators hired to ensure complete enumeration of this town. The ongoing POPCEN 2015 is the 14th census of population in the country since the first census in 1903. Moreover, the POPCEN 2015 it is the 3rd population census conducted in between two decennial censuses.  Previous to POPCEN 2015, mid-decade censuses were carried out in 1995 and 2007.
