A native of Vicarville Subdivision of this City, Ronnie Vience is a product of The Peninsula School in Limay. Currently, she is enrolled as a 7th Grade student at the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) in Diliman, Quezon City. She is one of the top 240 students among the 22,000 examinees of the National Competitive Examination given by the PSHS that gave her the privilege to enroll at the PSHS Main Campus in Diliman, Quezon City. Currently, she is chosen to attend the Mathematics Training Program (MTP1) of the Philippine Science High School. Only the top 30 math students of the entire batch are qualified for MTP1.

The representatives to the international math contests are chosen through a series of rigid screenings and tests. This year’s Philippine pool of 344 students were selected among the 3,300 students who joined the series of screenings. They had to attend a 12-saturday training and pass the exams. Those who passed the exams are qualified to attend the weeklong mathematics in-house intensive training where only the top scorers were chosen to attend a month-long summer training. The math wizards were then assigned to various international competitions depending on their performance during the training. The trainings and selection process are conducted by Mathematics Trainers Guild of the Philippines.

Ronnie Vience is not a neophyte in international competitions and has in fact been bringing honors for the country and Bataan as well. Here are some of her previous achievements in international competitions

1. Distinction Award in Australian Mathematics Competition
2. Bronze Medal in Stars of Math Olympics 2012 in Hongkong
3. Outstanding Prize in King of Maths 2012 in Hongkong
4. Merit Award in International Mathematics Contest 2013 in Singapore
5. DOST Excellence Award

Keep it up Ronnie Vience, we are proud of you!
