Find buyers, prepare for disasters

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – For a business to succeed, every supplier must have an outright buyer, and the ability to bounce back better. This is the goal of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Bataan in inviting local manufacturers across the province recently in another seminar for the development of small and medium enterprises under its SME Roving Academy program.

In the Developing Marketing Strategies Seminar cum Speed Matching Activity, motivational business speaker Paulo Tibig taught local manufacturers on reaching out to the market and forging linkages with prospective clients.

Entrepreneurs engaged in processed food, fish, kitchen products, soap and others were matched with participating establishments like The Plaza Hotel, Crown Royale Hotel, Anvaya Cove and other resorts and hotels in Bataan.

DTI-Bataan head Nelin Cabahug said this speed matching enables communication bond between the local manufacturers and the business establishments. “With this connection, our entrepreneurs will get to know the market which they must partner with to sustain their business,” she said.

Apart from this marketing strategy seminar, DTI-Bataan held recently the Seminar on Business Continuity Plan also in Crown Royale Hotel, Balanga City. Cabahug said this seminar was aimed at helping micro, small and medium enterprises to be ready in continuing business operations even if they are affected by flood, typhoons and other calamities.

“This Seminar on Business Continuity Plan is for the establishments on how they protect their company from various disasters and accidents and to enhance their company’s ability to survive by carrying out planned continuity strategies,” trade development specialist Tess Magtanong added.

Participants here included hardware owners, members of Bataan Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association, grocery owners and members of Bataan Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “Consumer protection and enterprise development will continue to flourish in the province through strong supplier-buyer relationship and government support,” Cabahug said.
