Yesterday, a symposium on environmental protection and preservation was held at the Bataan People’s Center, this City through the collaborative efforts of PTTPC, the Provincial Government of Bataan and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Environmental Protection.
Students from the Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Bataan Peninsula State University, Bataan Heroes Memorial College, Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (all from Bataan) and St. Dominic College from Bacoor, Cavite; two officers and 33 noncommissioned officers from the PNP headed by Maj. Allan Calaguas; Chieftain Rodelio Tamundog and Councilor Joseph Salonga tribal leaders from Sitio Canawan in Morong , were among the participants. Ms. Eco-Tourism Monique Manuel and Mr. Noli Soriano hosted the event.
In his message, read by PENRO Head, Dr. Alberto Venturina; Gov. Albert Garcia expressed his gratitude to the proponents of this Summit and challenged everybody present to work together in protecting our environment despite the fact that the threat of global warming, climate change is real.
Among the keynote speakers were: Climate Change Commissioner Nadereb Sano, Biotechnology expert Edgar Maranan, Environmentalist and former SBMA Chairman Felicito Payumo, WWF President and CEO Mr. Jose Ma. Lorenzo Tan, PTT Philippines President and CEO Khun Wisarn Chawalitanon, and Presidential Adviser for Environmental Protection and Laguna Lake Development Authority GM Sec. Nerius Acosta.
The BPSU Brass Band and dance troupe provided some intermission numbers while PTT put up a photo booth and distributed give aways to the participants upon registration. Members of the 24th Infantry Battalion under the command of Sgt. Samuel Camayang Sr. provided the security.
Bataan First District Representative, the Hon. Herminia Roman, together with BPSU President Delfin Magpantay, and MIS/PIO Head Mr. Geoffrey C. Loyola also graced the successful event.
