CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – NFA Bataan employees, headed by Provincial Manager Adelaida C. Nuestro, attended the “Gender Sensitivity Training”, last October 25, 2016 at the Pan Resort and Events Place in Abucay, Bataan.
Also in attendance were NFA stakeholders from the farmers sector (officers of the Provincial Farmers Action Council (PFAC), and some officers of the Bataan Grains Retailers Association (BAGRETAS).
The goal of the training is to create awareness regarding basic concepts of sex and gender, gender sensitivity and gender equality so as to help them grow as gender sensitive individuals and members of the community.
To ensure better understanding of various gender topics and issues, the National Food Authority invited the experts from Bataan Peninsula State University Gender and Development Focal Point System (BPSU-GAD FPS) to be the Resource Person and Facilitator of the said activity.
BPSU GAD Focal Person and Center for Human Rights Education Director, Ms. Arlene Idioma Pascual, readily agreed to share her expertise with the participants, together with PBSU GAD FPS Technical Staff/Facilitator, Mr. Jeffrey S. Bautista.
The whole day affair was filled with fun facts and activities, laughter and most importantly, awakening of the minds and opening of the eyes of the participants to the issues and concerns on gender and development, which they could hopefully use to promote gender equality and practice gender sensitivity in their day to day activities.
