Bataan PHO holds forum on nutrition, water, sanitation, hygiene & health

With the theme, “Kalamidad Paghandaan: Gutom at Malnutrisyon Agapan, a video presentation of the PHO emergency response team was first shown, followed by a panel discussion. Nutrition was discussed by Ms. Florinda V. Panlilio, RND, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator National Nutrition Council, Region 3; The topic on Water, Sanitation and Health was tackled by Engr. Eugenio Ramirez and Mr. Wilson David, of the Provincial Health Office. Board Member Aris Gaza, Chairman, Committee on Health joined the panel discussion while Board Member Jose Villapando Sr., member of the said committee also graced the occasion.

The PHO also took the opportunity to award the town of Morong as the most outstanding municipality in Bataan for its exemplary achievement, unwavering support, sustained effort and efficient performance in managing the local nutrition program in 2013. The towns of Bagac, Abucay, Hermosa and Samal were adjudged 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th runners up, respectively.

Certificates of recognition were likewise given to the five municipalities for their valuable contribution and outstanding achievement on the delivery of child survival packages and in the attainment of prescribed target for Vitamin A and deworming (Garantisadong Pambata) for the year 2013. The town of Morong got the first place again, followed by Bagac, Abucay, Hermosa and Samal.

Virginia Banzon of Bagumbayan, Bagac got the Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar award.
