“Implement building code properly…” DPWH

BALANGA CITY, Bataan- In its bid to provide adequate knowledge among new building officials and make the public aware of the existing Building Code of the Philippines (RA 1096) and its Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) led by Region 3 Director Antonio V Molano, Jr. started today a “reorientation” seminar /workshop on said topic.

Held at the Crown Royale Hotel in this component city, Governor Abet S. Garcia welcomed the guests and visitors who came all the way from Region 2 and various provinces and agencies in Central Luzon. Garcia said that Bataan is one of the fastest growing provinces in the country today especially in terms of economic growth..

In his speech, Director Molano urged the proper implementation of the building code to ensure the safety of the public by following the design and construction requirements in accordance to its specification. “Whatever the design of the infrastructure project is, it should be properly implemented in accordance to its specifications and standard,” pointed out Molano.

Citing the previous strong typhoons that hit the country in the past, Molano noted that times are changing today and this is why “we need to adopt and implement a stronger building code in the country.”

Also present in the seminar/ workshop are Provincial Engineer Ric Yuzon, Samal town Municipal Engineer Benjamin Caraig, among others.
