ABUCAY, Bataan – Officers and members of the Bagong Sigla ng Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina ng Bataan, Inc. (KALIPI) attended a whole-day empowerment seminar yesterday at Las Marianas Garden Restaurant, this town.
Organized by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Ms. Marilyn Tigas, the seminar featured a lecture session in the morning and a team-building activity in the afternoon.
“Ginagawa namin ang seminar na ito para sa sustainability and strengthening ng ating people’s organization. Syempre mga leaders sila, kaya dapat ma-equip sila sa pag-ma-manage ng kanilang organization,” said Ms. Tigas when asked about the rationale of the event.
“Napili namin ang KALIPI dahil sila yung kinikilala na official organization ng women sector ng PSWDO,” she added.
Dr. Corazon Aguilar-David, Trainer of the Women and Children Protection Desk Office of the Philippine National Police, served as guest speaker in that whole-day event.
Some of the topics discussed were the rights of a wife, matters regarding child custody, marriage, child support, and other issues concerning the family.
Also facilitated by Dr. David, the team-building activities were conducted to assess the participants’ leadership and organizational skills.
“Masaya, interesting, madami akong natutunan sa speaker lalo na yung mga karapatan ng kababaihan at saka nag-enjoy din ako sa mga games, natuto ako kung paano maging isang effective na leader,” said Ms. Evangeline Pizarro, KALIPI Municipal President of Pilar.
Meanwhile, KALIPI Provincial President Ms. Ester Hernandez thanked the speaker in her closing remarks as she had been successful in catching the attention of every partaker and that she was also glad that every KALIPI member has been very cooperative in the activities.
A total of 134 participants coming from different municipalities of Bataan attended the said event.
