MARIVELES, Bataan – Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion of this town, seeing the role of the youth in nation building, invited youth leaders and budding school journalists from different high schools in his town for the preparation and brainstorming on the first ever Youth Congress that is scheduled on Jan. 21 and 22, 2017.
Mayor AJ said that he believes that the Youth Congress is the proper venue for these young people to address the pressing concerns of their time and simultaneously contribute good ideas that they think will be best for their welfare and interest.
Meanwhile, Ernest Alvin Cruz, one of the organizers xplained the concept of the program, saying that the Youth Congress will be a gathering of youth 15-30 years old and other youth sectors to discuss matters on the prevailing issues of the youth today in the areas of education, health, employment, participation to finally come up with a Youth Development Plan for Mariveles.
Moreover, Ms. Rozelle Fernandez, consultant for Children Affairs of Mariveles said that, the said town has already institutionalized their programs on the right and protection of children, with their 10-year program having been a national awardee, yet are still creating avenues for the youth especially the out-of-school youth to sharpen their participation.
Also present in this initial exchange of ideas between and among the youth and guests are the representatives of DOLE, Department of Education and officials of the Sangguniang Bayan.
