PAO, nominated as Outstanding Accounting Office of the Philippines for 2016

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Provincial Accountant’s Office (PAO) headed by Mrs. Alicia R. Magpantay, has been nominated by the Commission on Audit (COA) for the Outstanding Accounting Office in the Philippines for 2016.

According to audit team leader, Ms. Leonida Tanega and Mrs. Josefina Serrano, Supervising Auditor of the Province of Bataan, the provincial accounting has proven worthy of the nomination, dedicating all their efforts in the timely submission of accounts, financial statements and other reports required by the commission.

In an interview with Provincial Accountant Mrs. Magpantay, she said that they religiously follow the mandate of the Provincial Accountant’s Office under the Local Government Code of 1991 known as RA 7160, in the consistent preparation and remittance of personal and government contribution, employees loan amortization to GSIS, PAG-IBIG, Phil Health, SSS and other financial institutions and taxes withheld from employees, suppliers and contractors to the BIR even before the deadline.

Magpantay reiterated that from July to October of this year alone, her office has remitted a total amount of P29.78 million pesos to the GSIS, Pag-Ibig, PhilHealth, SSS and other institutions as well as about P30.42 million to the BIR.

In their accomplishment record, it is clearly stated that the provincial accounting office, for the period of July to October 2017, has processed 7,894 vouchers, 5,639 petty cash with an average of 90 disbursement vouchers and 65 petty cash vouchers daily. Magpantay added that through the use of the Google spreadsheet, they are able to monitor and ensure that vouchers are processed within five (5) working days.

Lastly, Magpantay emphasized that although the province of Albay got the award, having been nominated is more than enough recognition for their efforts.
