PSA Enumerators to visit households for POPCEN 2015

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Bataan enumerators are visiting the households in all barangays for house to house interview in the conduct of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015), which started on August 10, 2015.

Interim Provincial Statistics Officer Ledesma L. Morante asks for the support of the Bataenos to cooperate in accommodating the enumerators when they knock at their doors. The enumerators who are in white uniforms, black cap and carrying a black bag – all have POPCEN 2015 logo, will introduce themselves with these lines:

“GOOD MORNING/AFTERNOON. I AM (NAME), AN ENUMERATOR OF THE PHILIPPINE STATISTICS AUTHORITY. HERE IS MY IDENTIFICATION CARD. WE ARE CURRENTLY CONDUCTING THE 2015 CENSUS OF POPULATION IN THIS AREA. I WOULD APPRECIATE VERY MUCH YOUR COOPERATION IN ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS THAT I’M GOING TO ASK REGARDING THIS CENSUS”.

“PLEASE BE ASSURED THAT ALL THE ANSWERS THAT YOU WILL GIVE WILL BE TREATED WITH UTMOST CONFIDENTIALITY.”

“THE OBJECTIVE OF THE POPCEN 2015 IS TO PROVIDE DATA AS BASES IN FORMULATING POLICIES AND PLANS FOR EDUCATION, HEALTH, EMPLOYMENT, AND HOUSING.”

During the listing and enumeration of the POPCEN 2015, respondents will be asked about the total population (number of male and female) of each occupied building/housing unit and/or ILQ in the enumeration area (EA) or barangay.

ENs will then proceed to ask the household questionnaire composed of questions: P1 – Name of the household member; P2 – Relationship to the household head; P3 – Sex; P4 – Date of birth; P5 – Age; P6 – Whether a member’s birth was registered at the LCR Office; P7 – Copy of birth certificate; P8 – Marital status; and P9 – Religious affiliation, for all persons.

Enumerators are responsible for the complete enumeration in the area/s assigned to him/her. He/she will seek the help of his/her Team Supervisor regarding the problems encountered which he/she cannot resolve.

The second batch of enumerators, composed of the Municipalities of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Limay, Pilar, Samal and City of Balanga completed the POPCEN 4th level training from August 3 to 8, 2015.

The ongoing POPCEN 2015 is the 14th census of population in the country since the first census in 1903. Moreover, the POPCEN 2015 it is the 3rd population census conducted in between two decennial censuses. Previous to POPCEN 2015, mid-decade censuses were carried out in 1995 and 2007.

POPCEN 2015 started in all barangays nationwide last August 10, 2015.
