CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – To raise the bar of awareness about bird life and to promote the “ 7th Ibong Dayo Festival,” some pre-festival activities were lined-up, preparatory to the actual conduct of the annual festivity, one of which is the recycled bird house making contest held at the audio-visual room of M. P. Cuaderno Sr. Memorial Elementary School, this City, last Tuesday, Dec. 6. wherein high school students from Tomas del Rosario College won.
“We would like to encourage the community especially our students to not only understand but also actively participate and support this program,” said Ms. Joer Grace de Mesa, city budget officer in her welcome remarks.
“For the whole week, meron kaming inihandang mga pre-festival events, isa ito sa mga iyon,” said Lara Charisse Colentava, City Tourism Operations Assistant.
Mark Anthony Cayanan pointed out that the reason why it is called recycled bird house making contest is to align to the goal and objective of the event which is the nature and to banner the use of recycled materials in constructing bird houses.
Meanwhile, both entries of the Bataan National High School students tied on the second spot. Other participating schools include Jesus is Lord Christian School and Bataan Heroes Memorial College.
Mr. Alexander Quizon, a member of Bataan Artists Society, Mr. Jose Suarez, chapter adviser of Guhit Pinas-Bataan and Arch. Deryck Mendoza, a member of the United Architects of the Philippines-Balanga Chapter, served as judges in the competition.
