BALANGA CITY, Bataan—The Sangguniang Panlalawigan will strictly monitor the lawful construction of piggeries and poultries in the province for the welfare of the public.
The Bataan Poultry Growers Association lamented that many piggeries and poultries are constructed in the province violating the HLURB order of 1-kilometer radius to each other of piggeries and poultries during the SP Committee on Agriculture meeting chaired by Board Member Benjie Serrano on Wednesday.
The association also lamented that the close location of piggeries and poultries to each other sometimes resulted to pig and chicken diseases outbreak. The animals easily contaminate each other.
The local poultry growers appealed for strict implementation of the HLURB order
with the help of Gov. Abet Garcia and the Bataan Mayors’ League.
Serrano said the SP Committee on Agriculture and the Committee on Land Use chaired by Board Member Rolly Tigas will thoroughly study the proposed construction of piggeries and poultries including the conversion of sites classification.
He added SP will review all piggeries and poultries approved by the LGUs.
Aside from Serrano, the committee meeting was attended by Board Members Tigas, Aris Gaza, Peping Villapando, Noel Valdecanas, Doroteo Austria, Danny Salonga, and Manny Beltran.
