Summer activities in Limay bared

LIMAY, Bataan – Come May 2, a colorful parade of the participants from the 12 barangays who are compteting for the Palarong Bayan ng Limay (PBL) 2015 will take place along the major roads of this fast-rising industrial town.

In a news briefing held recently at his office, Mayor Ver Roque said he organized this Palarong Bayan because he wants the youth of Limay to be busy with different sports activities while they are on vacation.

“Gusto ko lalo na yung mga estudyante natin na nakabakasyon, I want them to be active in sports while relaxing their minds before the resumption of classes in June,” Roque told newsmen.

The inter-barangay and inter school basketball competition and other sports will be done this whole month of May. Roque added that the champions for the basketball league, etc. will go and compete at the provincial meet then to the regional sports competition at the Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association or CLRAA.

Out of school youths are also welcome to join the sports activities such as basketball, lawn tennis, table tennis, badminton and chess.

“Aside from developing their minds with wisdom and knowledge in school we also need to develop their bodies thru these physical activities and of course we also need to learn good values and spiritual development in our respective churches or religions,” Roque stressed.

Limay, considered as the most progressive and the richest municipality in Bataan, is the home of major industrial sites such as the Petron Bataan Refinery – the country’s biggest oil refinery, the Department of National Defense or the DND Government Arsenal and the PNOC Industrial Estate.
