BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Spearheaded by the principals of Bagong Silang Elementary School, Mrs. Lisa G. Austria; Bani Elementary School, Mrs. Brenda B. Gaddi; Tanato Elementary School, Mrs. Eleonor G. Sioson and the School Head of Puerto Rivas Elementary School, Mrs. Ma. Ana I. Garcia, a two-day cluster schools seminar on the use of Continuous Improvement (CI) was held last January 25 and 26 at the Crown Royale Hotel, this City.

The training is an offshoot of the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) School heads’ Development Program (SHDP) Foundational Course application project of Austria, Gaddi, Sioson and Garcia after much brainstorming of what are the priority needs of their teachers.

Attended by 34 teachers from the four (4) schools, the seminar aims to orient participants on CI, equip them with the tools they need to make incremental improvements in their respective classes through the CI method and apply the principles of continuous Improvement Program (CIP) in improving school processes.

The training likewise targets to capacitate the teachers on how to address the real issues and concerns in their schools and in their respective classes in giving the innovations which are properly sequenced and documented.

To ensure that the participants will get the best from the activity, the best trainers/speakers from the division of Pampanga, namely Mr. Ritchie Lapuz and Mr. Naszer Yco were invited through former City Schools Division of Balanga officer-in-charge (OIC) assistant schools division superintendent, Dr. Leonardo “Ding” Zapanta, who is currently the schools division superintendent of Pampanga, being one of the only two (2) divisions in Region III to pilot the use of CI, Bulacan division being the other.

Funding for the said training was sourced from the Monthly Operating and Other Expenses (MOOE) fund of the four participating schools as approved by officer-in-charge (OIC) schools division superintendent of Balanga City, Dr. Carolina S. Violeta.

Through said activity, the teachers are now more enlightened on how they can apply innovations in their classrooms and schools.
