About 120,000 college students from Bataan already benefitted from the Iskolar ng Bataan program of the provincial government since its creation in 2004 while more than 50,000 college scholars have graduated.

The stipend is now released through ATM for convenience of scholars and as safety measure against COVID-19.

The strong leadership and efforts of Gov. Abet Garcia and Vice Gov. Cris Garcia as well as the support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for passing important resolutions and ordinances needed by the program are big factors that made the Iskolar ng Bataan, one of the most successful scholarship programs in the country.

Before becoming vice governor, Garcia was the coordinator of the Iskolar ng Bataan program. She now serves as its adviser and regularly attends important activities of the Iskolar ng Bataan.

The vice governor puts premium on education as she has been encouraging Bataan youths to take the opportunity to finish college through the program.
