The council, chaired by Governor Albert Garcia, led an Investment Planning Workshop in Orani town August 7 to 8 as requested by Mayor Benjie Serrano. Such meticulous training aimed to help the “Basta taga-Orani, Maganda ang Ugali”- themed municipality in putting up groundwork on what programs, projects and activities should the local government carry on for the next months and years.
PCWC will also conduct the said workshop plus a Synergy on Child-Friendly Governance and Child Protection Laws in Abucay town on August 19 to 20. Limay town will likewise have an Orientation on Child Protection Laws on August 28.
“Bataan is now getting known for its programs for the children,” said Provincial Social Welfare Officer Marilyn Tigas. “We don’t want to settle for less. All activities we do are to make Bataan more child-friendly and child-nurturing.”
In a recent meeting with member agencies, the PCWC co-chair extolled what she has seen as increased requests of municipalities for trainings and discussions to improve their programs for children. “The local government units are now seeing the need to bring up the children in their areas. In fact, their Sangguniang Bayan should pass more laws to improve the rights of children,” she said.
As part of its monitoring and reach-out campaign, PCWC will also conduct visits to Dinalupihan and Hermosa (August 22), Balanga City and Orion (August 26), Mariveles (August 30), and Morong (September 2).
It is set to bestow the Most Functional Local Council for the Protection of Children award during the Children’s Month celebration in October. It will also launch the award for Most Child-Friendly Barangays.
