Bataan still battered by habagat

   BALANGA CITY, Bataan- The southwest monsoon or habagat enhanced by typhoon Jose continues to bring heavy rains in Bataan flooding some areas of three of its 11 towns and one city.

   Gov. Albert Garcia suspended classes in all levels, both public and private, on yesterday and today.

   Tess Senora, Officer-in-Charge of the Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMC), said floodings were recorded in some areas of the towns of Hermosa, Dinalupihan and Mariveles.

   In Samal, 18 families (40 children and 35 adults) were evacuated at the Samal North Elementary School. Mayor Gene dela Fuente ordered the evacuation as preparation in case of flood in low-lying Sitio Sunshine in Barangay San Juan.

   In Hermosa, the affected areas are Barangay Almacen with 5 feet flood water, Daungan – 2.5 feet, A. Rivera – 3 feet and Pulo – 3 feet.

   In Dinalupihan, flooded with 2 feet of flood water are some areas in Barangays Penaflor and Sta. Isabel also Barangays Balon Anito and San Isidro in Mariveles.

   Some agricultural lands in Hermosa, Dinalupihan, Samal and Balanga with newly-planted palay are also under water. There are no reports of flooding in the towns of Pilar, Orion and Limay.
