“The event will have a theme, “Saving Lives, Saving Costs, and Saving the Planet”, and supports the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 that aims to save 5 million lives and preventing 50 million injuries worldwide,” Gabor stated.
The event will be co-presented by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), the Philippine affiliate of the prestigious Federacion Internationale de I’Automobile (FIA).
Other agencies like the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have given their support as partner in this endeavor.
Aside from a three-day conference to be attended by stellar speakers and international luminaries led by several ministers of tourism, transport, and motor sport leaders, there will be a 3-day event, targeting consumers to stir road safety awareness and drum up global tourism sales and programs.
The consumer areas will be divided into: a Travel Village, an Auto Plaza and a Market Place that features products, goods and services from those markets at promotional prizes.
The centerpiece of the event is the launching of a “Children’s Road Safety Park” in Subic, the first of its kind in the country.
The park will not only be a tourism destination but more importantly an educational stage to teach the culture of road safety and discipline to the youth and remind those “not so young anymore the value of life and their role as models to the youth”.
Among the distiguished guests will be Tourism Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez Jr., Ms. Michelle Yeoh, the UN Ambassador for road safety, who will lead the launching of the park to the public.
Yeoh will also be the special guest of honor during the ribbon cutting and opening ceremonies of the exhibits.
Joining them are officials from DOTC, DILG, DPWH, Department of Education and SBMA.
Jean Todt, president of the FIA, will keynote the conference with the distinguished presence of other luminaries and stellar speakers from both international and local private and public institutions.
The conference sessions provide the most comprehensive and innovative ideas on Drive Tourism and also focuses on the best practices and strategies for road safety leading to saving lives, saving costs and saving the planet.
The Travel Village is a huge component of the exhibition area and special travel deals, air, land and sea fares, as well as domestic and international travel packages will be available for sale to the public during the 3-day fair.
Regional directors from the DOT, DOTC, and DILG are promoting the event throughout the country, tapping the huge and rich markets of National Capital Region (NCR) and Regions 1,2,3, and 4.
AAP, whose present membership stands at 50,000, will be sending invites and text blast messages to its member, as well as the several hundreds of thousand credit members of Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), the event’s official bank partner.
Companies are also invited to participate as exhibitor/seller in the event.
Special booth rates for early birds will be extended and the opportunity for inclusion in promotional events and marketing materials.
Attractive sponsorship package is also expected that will enable the companies to reach out and promote to a cross range of the consumer markets.
