BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Bataan Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia has sought the cooperation of the transport sector to deploy sufficient number of mini-buses purposely intended for night duty factory workers and commuters of the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) , the fast emerging economic zone in Central Luzon.
Garcia told Board Member Jose Villapando, Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) Transportation Committee chair and a transport association official plying the Mariveles town – Balanga city route to undertake a workable evaluation on the ferrying system of industrial workforce and commuters .
The governor stressed the importance of providing comfortable, well-conditioned and safe public vehicles to industrial workers who render night and graveyard duties in various FAB factories as part of the transport group commitment of continuous non-stop service to the riding public.
Relating several instances, Governor Garcia said while on his way to Balanga City after a series of conferences with local leaders, prospective investors and stakeholders from Mariveles town, he saw a group of factory workers mostly women in several concrete sheds waiting for mini-buses to take them home to Limay, Orion, Pilar and Balanga City.
He added that the transport association officials reportedly overlooked the dilemma of night –shift workers and unbearable scenario waiting for hours in sheds, this kind of situation affecting workers and residents must be swiftly addressed by the concerned agencies.
