SSS Mariveles, Barangay Alas-asin sign MOA

MARIVELES, Bataan -The Social Security System (SSS) Mariveles and Barangay Alas-asin have signed on Friday a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to make job order (JO) employees of the barangay members of SSS.

SSS Mariveles was represented by Branch Head Jordan Herrera, Accounts Management Section Head Rex Ramiterre and Member Services Section Head Fredisminda Asuncion.  Alas-asin was represented by Barangay Captain Roberto Arcenal Sr.

About 125 JO employees of Alas-asin are qualified to become SSS members on voluntary basis. Eighty six employees already signed up to become members.

Herrera thanked the barangay captain for readily accepting the SSS program.

“Brgy. Capt. Arcenal was very accommodating; it took us just a couple of visits to finalize the MOA”, he said. 

“He understands the importance of social security and encouraged their JO employees to become SSS members”, Herrera said.

For his part, Arcenal messaged in vernacular, “We will all go, that’s the reality of life, and the SSS benefits will help us and our families”.

He also commended the SSS Mariveles branch head, “Many SSS Mariveles branch heads have been here and gone, only now that one reaches out to our barangay to be part of SSS”.   

Alas-asin turns out to be the first barangay in the province of Bataan to sign an agreement with the SSS for membership of JO employees.

Herrera earlier said SSS is working to expand its membership particularly among the informal sectors of the society.

In Bataan, tricycle operators and drivers, members of homeowners associations, some barangays, LGU job order employees, vendors, and inmates have become members of the social security through the diligent efforts of SSS Bataan officers.\SSS Mariveles Branch was recently a recipient of the highest rating (5 stars) of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Seal of Excellence Award.

It was the first time for SSS Mariveles to receive the 5-star award under Herrera’s leadership who became branch head two years ago.

The CSC Seal of Excellence Award aims to recognize government officials and employees who have displayed outstanding work performances.
