10 bridges are simultaneously being constructed in Bataan

ORANI, Bataan – Engineer Erlindo “Boying” Flores Jr. of the province’s 1st Engineering District told reporters in a media briefing that at least 10 bridges in the province are simultaneously being constructed under the Bridge Construction Replacement Program (BCRP).

D.E. Flores said that these 10 bridges were constructed almost 20 years ago hence they need rehabilitation and replacement. Not only that, with the ongoing widening of the Roman Expressway, making it 6 lanes, the replacement and rehabilitation of these bridges is  indeed necessary and timely.

Flores added that even the good Governor Abet Garcia always puts emphasis on the fact that good and efficient roads and bridges play a significant role in the social and economic developments contributing to the overall growth and progress of the province.

We often hear Governor Abet Garcia mention in his speeches that roads and bridges are the very means of good and smooth transportation, that roads and bridges contribute to the elimination of poverty by connecting remote and rural areas to the economic centers thereby enabling the transport of goods and services at a lower cost and shorter time, precisely a major factor for investors to locate their business here.

The 10 bridges, are Mauban bridge in Morong; Gumpay bridge near Raven, Capitangan bridge, Salian bridge, Calaylayan bridge, all in Abucay;  Orani  bridges1 and 2; Culis, Almario and Mabical bridges in Hermosa, Sta. Rosa bridge in Pilar and Balanga bridge for the 2nd district.

Flores also said that DPWH Secretary Mark Villar issued a new directive, wherein projects for the following year be advertised as early as November, for the necessary documentation, so that construction be scheduled in summer, unlike now that most of the projects are being constructed during the rainy season.
