BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas assured here Wednesday that a total of 1,490 patrol vehicles will be distributed to the country as part of the government’s campaign against lawless elements.
Roxas who flew by chopper inside Camp Tolentino, Headquarters of PNP here, personally distributed 10 PNP patrol vehicles to Sr. Supt Rhodel Sermonia, Bataan police director and the chiefs of police, and witnessed by Vice Gov. Bondyong Pascual and the mayors of the province.
“Lahat ng bayan sa ating bansa ay magkakaroon ng patrol car, nauna lamang yong mga maliliit na bayan dahil mas may kakayahan naman ang mga lungsod at malalaking bayan,” said Roxas in his speech. He appealed to the mayors, however, to support the maintenance of the patrol cars such as gasoline since this will be used in their localities to fight against crimes.
Roxas was accompanied by Director Reynaldo Vano, Director for Logistics and few top police officials. “I hope these patrol cars will lessen crimes in Bataan and in the country,” said the DILG secretary. He also lauded the police for their accomplishments, saying that all policemen have been running after criminals, resulting to the decline of crime incidents for the past few months.
Roxas, however, warned policemen who are “doctoring” their accomplishment reports and records to make it appear that their areas of responsibilities are safe and crime free.
