MARIVELES, BATAAN — The municipal government here is planning to build a multi-purpose building along the town’s coastline that will serve as the headquarters for their seaborne patrol and other sea related agencies.
Mayor Jesse Concepcion told the local press here that, recently, he had initial talks with Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) officials based in Bataan about this major development that will protect not just the municipality of Mariveles but its nearby areas along its long coastline within the vicinity of Manila Bay and the West Philippine Sea.
“Initially, it will be called ‘The Mariveles Bantay Dagat Seaborne Headquarters’ which will serve as our patrol boat yard and impounding area for illegal fishing offenders. It will also house the equipment and offices for our municipal risk reduction management council and our disaster rescue team,” Municipal Administrator Luis Gonzales said.
