Bataan aims for a better quality of life and excellent public service

   BAGAC, Bataan- The provincial leadership is now targeting to become the preferred location for eco-industrial zones, in a bid to become the highest human development index (HDI) in the Philippines by 2020.

   But even before this objective has been crafted, Governor Abet S. Garcia had already laid a number of ground works aimed at uplifting the living condition of the people of Bataan, such as the creation of the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), now the biggest employment generation in the province; the soon to be developed more than 500 hectares of idle lot of Phil. National Oil Company in Limay town that was also pushed by the young governor when he was still a congressman to become another industrial hub, thereby expectedly will create thousands more of jobs; the putting up of the GN 600 mw power plant, that is now providing cheap electricity to the province and another one now being constructed, both cost $ billion dollar; the expansion of the Petron Bataan Refinery, among others.  

Bataan partners with JobStreet.com

BAGAC, Bataan—The provincial government of Bataan will be partnering with the successful online job portal JobStreet.com to help residents of the province find employment. He said the Memorandum of Agreement between the provincial government and JobStreet.com will be signed on December 11. On the same date, the provincial government will launch its online portal www.1bataan.com. The governor said JobStreet.com will be an integrated feature in the provincial government’s online portal. Garcia announced that JobStreet.com will provide its service to Bataan provincial government for free as part of its corporate social responsibility. He pointed out applying online such as in JobStreet.com is very convenient for tech savvy like the young generation. He added though that non-tech savvy need not to worry since they can just fill up standard application form provided by PESO, which would be entered in the database of the office and JobStreet.com.   

Mt. Samat pilgrimage for supertyphoon victims

BALANGA CITY — The Diocese of Balanga dedicates the pilgrimage to Mount Samat in Barangay Diwa, Pilar, Bataan on November 30 to the victims of earthquake and the recent typhoon Yolanda in the Visayan region, Bishop Ruperto Santos told local newsmen here the other day.

The pilgrimage is an annual event of the Diocese since 2004 to mark the First Sunday of Advent when more than 30,000 people walk their way seven kilometers from the foot of the famous mountain to the World War II monument, the Dambana ng Kagitingan (Shrine of Valor).

A giant war memorial white cross there that stands 90.4 meters is one of Bataan’s major tourist attractions that looks “as if swaying with the clouds.”
