AFAB, DTI Conduct “Free Trade Information Campaign”

BATAAN FREEPORT– The Authority of the Free-port Area of Bataan (AFAB) recently partnered with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to conduct an information/advocacy seminar on the Philippines’ Foreign Trade Agreements (FTAs) to  empower FAB investors to take full advantage of the privileges enumerated under these FTAs.

Entitled “Doing Business in Free Trade Areas,” the campaign is designed to inform business enterprises and the general public regarding the opportunities and privileges stated under the FTAs (with focus on products with zero or reduced tariffs brought about by existing free trade agreements) entered into by the Philippine Government with fellow members of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN).  It also promotes the Industry-Academe Linkage Program, which encourages cooperation between companies and universities to become powerful engines for innovation and economic growth.

City mayors’ league officials taste bird watching, marketing in Balanga

   BALANGA City, Bataan- About 40 city mayors early morning of Friday had the taste of bird watching and marketing for dried and smoked fish and cookies in their last day of strategic planning session in Balanga City.

   Balanga City Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia 3rd accompanied the city executives in a breakfast by the bay on board floating “balsa” at the entrance to the Wetland Park in Tortugas, seaside village in the city.

Mariveles wants “Km Zero” proclaimed as National landmark

MARIVELES, Bataan-Local officials of this historic town led by Mayor Jesse Concepcion  have asked the National Historical Commission (NHC) to declare the “Kilometer Zero” here as a National Landmark since this town started the Deadly March of American and Filipino prisoners of war (POWs) During World War II.

Municipal Administrator Luis Gonzales told newsmen that the Sangguniang Bayan headed by Vice Mayor Turing Isip had already passed a resolution asking the NHC to immediately declare KM Zero as national landmark.

Tayag, Mayor Bistik, other city mayors attend hataw morning exercise in Balanga City

   BALANGA City, Bataan- Health Undersecretary Eric Tayag and Quezon City Mayor  Herbert  “Bistik”  Bautista  led  a  big crowd  in  the  “Hataw  MorningExercise” at the Balanga City plaza in Bataan Friday at dawn. Balanga City Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III and other members of the National Executive Board of the League of Cities of the Philippines participated in the dance exercise at the place  known as Plaza Mayor de  Balanga. The plaza is in the middle of the Galeria Victoria, Eva Hotel, Plaza Center Malland Cityhall/Library; all with the same facade and color, and the St. Joseph Cathedral.
