Good news to scholars

   BALANGA CITY, Bataan- Rep Enrique “Tet” Garcia, 2nd District, has assured to fund the scholarship program  in his district despite the removal of the Priority Development Assistance Fund. 

   In a talk with this correspondent, Rep Garcia said that he is doing something to remedy the fund intended for the thousands of poor but deserving students.

DTI to hold Balik Eskwela Diskwento Caravan in Bataan

   BALANGA CITY, Bataan-In its bid to help the public, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will hold a 3-day annual Balik Eskwela Diskwento Caravan on May 14 to 16 at the Plaza Mayor de Balanga in front of the City Hall.

   Nelin Cabahug, DTI Provincial  Director, said that the public should take advantage of this opportunity since they can avail 10% discount on the prices of all the commodities on sale.

LTO chief assures motorists

PILAR, Bataan- Land Transportation Office (LTO) Chief Ronald S. Dabu assured motorists yesterday that the LTO is fast tracking the needed plates and stickers.

This came after thousands of motorists here are growing impatient over the failure of the LTO  to provide them new plates and stickers for the past several months.

 LTO Chief Dabu stressed that the lack of LTO plates and stickers is not under his control since it is the Central Office that is providing it.

Bataan to adopt South Korean waste to energy plant concept

BALANGA CITY –  The provincial government of Bataan is eyeing a new concept of disposing garbage after seriously evaluating the performances of environment –friendly South Korean technology to solve the waste problem while doing away with the costly sanitary landfill project .

Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia headed the four-man delegation to observe the thriving operations of four waste to energy facilities in South Korea last week.

Garcia  said the new trend in  garbage technology  being propagated by the Korean technocrats is to do away with the more costly landfill project and instead go for a cheaper  and safer know-how in disposing waste by turning them into pellets that would in turn be used as fuel for power plant.

Risk reduction summits slated in Bataan, other provinces

BALANGA CITY, Bataan-This province and six other provinces of Central Luzon will hold this second quarter of 2014 their respective Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Summits as an offshoot to last year’s regional gathering in a bid to lessen disaster casualties and damages.

“The general objective of this undertaking is to make action plans anchored with a comprehensive and standard understanding of DRRM roles and responsibilities of local chief executives (LCEs) as a result of the 2013 Regional Summit for the effective and efficient delivery of government services,” Regional DRRM Council Chairperson and Office of Civil Defense Regional Director Josefina Timoteo explained.
