Reopening of ferry services in Bataan mulled

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Thousands of traders, college students, tourists and other commuters have expressed enthusiastic curiosity over the reported reopening of ferry services in the coastal town of Orion, this province before the end of February 2016.

Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia has conferred the other day with the proponent of ferry services, Gani Cabrera, president of Fahrenheit Company, Limited (FCL) to discuss the efficient procedures that would hasten the growth of tourism and investments .

Garcia predicts the reopening of the vital commuter services would rekindle the enthusiasm of Metro Manila residents, foreign and local investors and other educational and tourism agencies to visit the historical and industrial province in Central Luzon.

He explained the newly-rehabilitated Port of Orion is all set for the ferry operations which eventually provide faster, comfortable and maybe cheaper fare when the proponent deploys two air-conditioned boats.

Geographically, the Port of Orion which is about 30 nautical miles from Manila, became a major transport terminal in the 1990’s when Mount Pinatubo erupted which destroyed Pampanga infrastructure facilities and several towns with the rampaging lahar devastation .

Residents of Pampanga and Zambales provinces trooped to Orion town to board readily available ferry boats than use the tiresome and circuitous land routes to reach Manila.
