Bataan tourism opens Galing Bataan Trade Fair 2017

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Bataan’s quality products manufactured by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are being showcased starting today, April 3 for the “Galing Bataan Trade Fair 2017 at the Plaza Mayor de Balanga up to April 9, 2017.

The trade fair officially opened with a program held at the Louis Resort with City Mayor Francis Garcia, Mrs. Vicky S. Garcia, chairperson of the Bataan Peninsula Tourism Council and other key officials of the province. 

Mayors Alice Pizarro of Pilar, Mayor Gene M. Dela Fuente of Samal and First Ladies from Orion (Mrs. Lilia Raymundo), Mariveles (Dr. Cleoty Concepcion), Hermosa (Atty. Anne Lorraine Inton) and Balanga City (Mrs. Raquel Francis Garcia) did a very special dance number. Congressman Joet Garcia’s wife Isabelle was also present in the event.

The trade fair was organized as part of the week-long 75th Araw ng Kagitingan Celebrations, with the support of the Department of Trade and Industry led by OIC provincial director Nelin Cabahug, Bataan Tourism Office led by Mrs. Tetchie Banzon-Enriquez, and the City Government of Balanga.

Mrs. Vicky Garcia also vows to make Bataan products meet global standards.

Forty four MSMEs participated in the fair with a wide variety of products including soap, bags, fruits, fish sauce, dried fish, sautéed shrimp paste, crispy fish and other native food products.

The participating SMEs have been constantly supported by DTI Bataan through training, market matching, trade fair exposure and business development services to enable them to widen their market since most of them supply products for export. 

Aside from the MSME stalls, there were also two booths that exhibited the potential bamboo products from Masagka Group of Bagac that features six-seater dining table and engineered bamboo tiles and the Alangan Farmers Producers Association Inc. featuring lamp shades made of bamboo materials.

Last year, the sales generated for the participating MSMEs reached Php 758,000 for the four day activity.
