BATAAN PEOPLE’S CENTER – In his message during this morning’s flag raising ceremony led by the Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA) under the able leadership of GM Charlie Pizarro, Governor Albert S. Garcia emphasized performance, not personality, not even name recall as the basis in choosing the people you vote for during elections.
Gov. Abet likewise underscored the following points:
1. Bataan is so far, the only local government unit in the country that has a functional MBDA, focused on manning the Bataan highways aimed at lowering if not totally preventing the incidence of road accidents, rescuing and saving lives to keep Bataeños safe and secured.
2. Picking up from the earlier report of Mr. Erwin Oximoso, the hardworking governor lauded the joint efforts of the different departments that contributed to the successful hosting of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball Leauge in the province’s game versus Caloocan City. We may not have won the game, but in successfully hosting the event, we also won in showing our unity.
3. Garcia likewise shared the good news, that the Bataan People’s Center will soon have its much needed “make over” so as to be able to host big conventions, conferences, concerts and sports events.
4. In a training program that he attended at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in Singapore, Gov. Garcia emphasized the importance of planning, development and implementation in local governance; that to achieve our vision, we need to keep an open mind and learn from the experiences of other countries.
5. He also briefly but with utmost sincerity and conviction clarified an issue floated in the social media regarding a problem confronted by one of his cousins, that their family, as always, is not condoning nor tolerating his cousin’s misgivings, but instead let him face the consequences of his actions and let justice prevail.
6. Lastly, on the issue of political dynasty, the good governor urged everyone to use performance, not personality, not even name as the basis in choosing a candidate to vote for during elections. With a very powerful media/social media nowadays, those who do not perform do not stay in politics. With performance, Garcia emphasized the crucial role played by “measurement”, for without it, a performance will be lousy.
He also used the idiomatic expression, “barking up the wrong tree” to describe those who equate poverty to political dynasty. Based on verified data, those provinces who belong to the rich category are under the so-called political dynasty.
Again, the bottomline is in the performance, measurable performance, not dynasty.
