BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Victory is sweetest when you’ve known defeat.
After three attempts to enter the top 3 in Banga Festival Street Dancing Competition, Brgy. Talisay finally achieved its long dreamt victory as they were hailed as grand champion last Monday, alongside two other major awards.
Talisay dancers dazzled Bataan People’s Center’s crowd with their synchronized moves and flabbergasting wardrobe change, from a simple brown overall suit portraying clay which is the primary material in pot making, down to sequence studded costume accentuated by led lights at the torso and head dress.
Though they failed to bring home the Best Costume Award that went to Brgy. Bagumbayan, they won the Best Parade award and Best Queen in the persona of Hanna Mae Angel Marantal.
In support, one of their members Ace Brondial Espinosa shared the concept of their performance. “Dahil ang tema ng streetdance para sa taong ito ay “Sumayaw, Magsaya sa Ganda ng Sining at Kultura,” bumuo kami ng konsepto na magpapakita ng tunay na sining sa paggawa ng banga at kung paano nakilala at umunlad ang Balanga sa mayamang kultura nito”.
Further, Brgy. Doña Francisca was hailed as 1st runner up, while Brgy. Bagumbayan took the third spot.
