ABS-CBN, hailed as Best TV station in 6th Kagitingan Awards

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – For its array of quality programs and advocacies, ABS-CBN achieved its first title of Pinakamagiting na Himpilang Pantelebisyon (Best TV Station) during Bataan Peninsula State University’s 6th Kagitingan Awards for Television held at the Plaza Mayor de Ciudad de Balanga yesterday, April 23

Though ABS-CBN was bestowed with only four awards for Best TV shows and three awards for Best Personalities, and the rest went to GMA Network, it won the title because of its invaluable impact to the community through Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Bantay Bata 163, Bantay Kalikasan, and the Operation Sagip which aided more than 24,000 families amid the Marawi Conflict.

In support of Kagitingan Awards’ aim to promote and impart values of valor on a nationwide broadcast, Director for Arts and Cultural Affairs Dr. Remegio C. Sacdalan Jr. explained the essence of Kagitingan Awards in an interview.

“Ultimately ang gusto natin sa Kagitingan Awards is to promote values of kagitingan; culture of kagitingan. At ‘yung television I think is the most influential of all forms of media being really accessible. We’d like to tell the TV stations to produce more programs that are promoting values. It’s also telling our students to watch programs with values,” said Dr. Sacdalan.

Meanwhile, Kapamilya artists Sue Ramirez and Maris Racal personally received the award for Pinakamagiting na Drama Series for their program Hanggang Saan.

Kapamilya programs Magandang Buhay and Maalaala Mo kaya were cited Pinakamagiting na Talk Show and Drama Anthology respectively, while It’s Showtime broke Eat Bulaga’s hall of fame last year for Pinakamagiting na Entertainment Program.
