CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – After the successful Training Modules I – 5 for Mainstreaming Green Growth in Development Planning of Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the Provincial Government of Bataan through the Provincial Government – Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO) in coordination with the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) conducted their last training, Module 6– Strengthening Monitoring and Evaluation, June. 20-22, 2018, Crown Royale Hotel, this City.
The unwavering commitment of Gov. Abet Garcia in the sustainable development program of the province played a major role in Bataan being chosen as one of the pilot provinces in the Philippines for green growth planning initiatives.
The training aims to promote climate resilience and sustainable development through the institutionalization of green growth tools.
The training was facilitated by Ms. Maricor Muzones (Project Manager, MGGDP Project, GGGI) and Mr. Jorex Camba (GGGI Consultant). Resource speakers from different national agencies also graced the training. For the “Devolved Functions and Services of National Agencies (NGAs) to Local Government Units (LGUs)”, Allan Don Malonzo- LGOO II, DILG-Bataan. “Environmental Impact Assessment” was discussed by Mr. Mark Anthony, DENR-Environment Management Bureau Central Office “Energy Audit for Industries & Energy Management System (ISO 50001)” by Mr. Oscarlito Malvar – National Project Coordinator, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). “Climate Mitigation & Adaptation Initiatives in Agriculture”, by Mr. U Nichols Manalo – Director, DASWCCO “Financing Windows under the DOF-MDFO” Ms. Emma M. Paz – Department of Finance-Municipal Development Fund Office. “Overview on Greenhouse Gas Inventory – Background and Data Requirements” was explained by Mr. Danilo Villas – Executive Director, Philippine League of Local Environment and Natural Resources Officer Inc. (PLLENRO) and lastly, Ms. Mary Gracious Ibarra of City License, Permit and Franchising Office of the City of Balanga shared their “Business Processes and Licensing – Policy Initiatives and Lessons Learned.
GGGI-Project Manager, Ms. Maricor said, “This is just the beginning. We will continue to work hand and hand with Bataan to help them in translating Green Development in Bataan Development Planning.”
Next step will be the full-blown Green House Gas Inventory training, wherein data collection, collating and updating are critical. “In our LGUs lie the power on moving forward”, Ms. Maricor added.
The training ended with the awarding of certificates of completion/participation to LGUs and PGB departments representatives who attended and participated in the entire training.
