Balanga COP sent to Libya to assist distressed OFWs

“Col Alejandro is a highly-trained PNP officer who has experience in handling such crisis situation in other countries. He had been sent before by the United Nations as a member of the PNP peace-keeping force to other troubled countries,” said Dongbo.

According to the PNP director, Col Alejandro and two other police officers in the region were sought by the DFA to be sent to Libya as the government is rushing to repatriate the 11,000 distressed OFWs trying to leave Libya that has been wracked by war.

According to the DFA, there are 13,000 OFWs working in Libya but only 2,000 had so far been able to go home safely.

Col Alejandro was the former Intelligence Chief of Bataan PNP before he was designated as Chief of Police of Balanga City.
