Provincial leaders in Bataan congratulated international singer Jessica Sanchez after she emerged as the grand champion of America’s Got Talent (AGT) Season 20, calling her win a source of inspiration and pride for her hometown of Samal and for the entire Philippines.
Governor Joet Garcia praised Sanchez for her perseverance, recalling how she first joined AGT in its inaugural season nearly two decades ago before returning to win the top prize. He said her victory symbolizes the power of determination and belief in one’s abilities. “Maraming salamat, Jessica, sa pagbabahagi ng iyong talento at sa pagbibigay ng karangalan hindi lamang sa Bataan kundi sa buong Pilipinas,” Garcia said.
First District Representative Tony Roman III also expressed pride in Sanchez, highlighting her journey from American Idol to becoming AGT’s newest champion. “Mula sa entablado ng American Idol hanggang sa pagiging kampeon ng America’s Got Talent Season 20, muli mong pinatunayan ang husay at galing ng Pilipino,” Roman said, adding that she carried the name of Bataan and the Philippines onto the global stage.
Bataan 3rd District Representative Gila Garcia joined in the accolades, extending her congratulations to Sanchez and her family from Samal. She said Sanchez’s talent and dedication, now recognized worldwide, continue to bring honor to her hometown. “Ang iyong husay at talento ay lubos na ipinagmamalaki ng iyong bayan,” Garcia said.
Sanchez, who was declared AGT Season 20 winner on September 24, 2025, outperformed other finalists including freestyle rapper Chris Turner to clinch the $1 million prize. Her performance of “Die With a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars earned rave reviews from judges and audiences alike for its vocal strength and emotional depth.
The singer’s comeback carried a special narrative: she first auditioned for AGT at just 10 years old, later finished as runner-up in American Idol in 2012, and returned to AGT Season 20 to finally achieve her dream. Performing while in her third trimester of pregnancy, Sanchez’s victory has been hailed by many as a story of resilience, inspiring young artists to pursue their ambitions on the world stage.
