Municipal Mayor Richie Jason David said he would ask the Sangguniang Bayan (municipal council) if it could pass a resolution asking for discounted price of fuel for local residents.
In an interview, David said since Limay town has been host to Petron Bataan Refinery (PBR), the country’s only refinery plant, and other industrial plants dealing with oil products, he is toying with the idea of “discounted rate” for fuels.
The Petron management, David said, had divulged its plan of expanding refinery operations and putting up additional infrastructures in Limay.
PBR supplies not only 40 percent of the country’s need for diesel, gasoline and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) but also aviation gas.
Limay, a first class municipality, is one of the two richest towns in Bataan. The other one is Mariveles, host to the sprawling Freeport Area of Bataan.
