Bignay wine processing center in Tanato

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Bataan turned over on Monday the about P500 thousand worth Bignay Wine Processing Center to the Tanato Multi-Purpose Cooperative in upland Barangay Tanato, this City.

The fund used in the construction of the processing center came from DAR’s programExpanded Village Level Processing Center Project. Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Engr. Eric San Luis led other agrarian reform officers and DTI officials in the turnover of the center to the Tanato MPC represented by its chairperson Guillerma Desepeda.

The DTI through its Shared Service Facility program provided 2 working tables and 2 stainless containers in the processing center. The agency will also provide a capping machine. DTI OIC-Provincial Director Nelin Cabahug led other officers of its agency in the turnover ceremony.

In his message, San Luis urged officers and members of the Tanato MPC the beneficial use of the center in the production of their bignay wine and other products. He also urged them to take good care of the center. “This center is a proof that government funds truly goes to the people”, San Luis pointed out.

Earlier, he said that the aim of their grant is for the Tanato MPC to further improve the quality of its bignay wine product. He said the cooperative’s bignay wine must be competitive in taste and packaging.

Desepeda vowed to use the center to further develop high-quality bignay wine as well as other products as she profusely thanked DAR and DTI for the grant.

San Luis was accompanied in the turnover by DAR Region 3 officers Irene Magkalas, Cora Lingat; and DAR Bataan officers CARPO Neil Pedralvez, SARPO Norma Evangelista, and ARPO Erickson Reyes.

Earlier in the day, City Vice Mayor Noel Valdecanas and Francis Garcia, consultant of Balanga Mentors Society, visited the processing center. Tanato Barangay Captain Sobrino Atienza also witnessed the turnover.
