LIMAY, Bataan – A scientist from Bataan? Yes, it is surprising, that even Gov. Abet Garcia was amazed to know that a native of Bgy. Lamao, this town, by the name of Jan Patrick Calupitan, at a young age of 24, is now a certified scientist in France.
Japet, as friends and relatives call him, was born, raised and finished grade school at Lamao Elementary School. He finished high school at Tomas del Rosario Academy in Balanga City with top honors, was among the top 2%, of the Ateneo de Manila University BS Chemistry graduating class, Magna Cum Laude and a Distinction Program Awardee.
After acquiring his Masteral Degree in Chemistry in Ateneo, he was able to obtain Scholar at a Japanese University where was later on recommended to be in the program of Scientist in France on the research, “Synthesizing of Molecules.”
Japet placed fourth (4th) in the 2013 Chemistry Board Exam, thus Gov Abet wants to meet him and said that hopefully he’ll work in the Philippines and share his knowledge with the Filipinos.
Calupitan’s feat was discovered, when Limay was looking for awardees for the “Gawad Parangal sa Natatanging taga-Limay” who excelled in the field of science and has given pride to the Limayans, in time for their Centennial celebration.
