Bagaqueños to benefit from its new FMR

BAGAC, Bataan – With a total project cost of P155, 422, 720.13, in which the Provincial Government will give 10% equity contribution to its project outlay, the construction of a new farm to market road (FMR) in Brgy. San Antonio-Parang-Saysain will be beneficial to the residents of this town and the entire province as well, Provincial Agriculturist Ms. Imelda D. Inieto stated.

“Once the project is implemented, this will bring big opportunities and economic change in the life of the farmers in Bagac,” PA Inieto affirmed. She also said that the project will generate local employment upon implementation because it is stipulated in the project that 60% of the required unskilled workers must come from the community.

Other benefits would be: improved agricultural productivity, easier hauling and marketing of agricultural products and the increase in land valuation.

The FMR project will not cause any losses on livelihood neither reduce access of families to the traditional livelihood sources but rather will improve the accessibility of transporting the products of the farmers to the nearest market and contribute in increasing their family income.

In line with this, as of press time, Ms. Inieto claimed that last Feb. 9-12, this World Bank funded project under the Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP), went through a Technical Review of the Project Support Office and National Project Coordinating Office for the fast-tracking of the issuance of No-Object Letter (NOL) 1 for the 2016 sub-projects under I-BUILD Component of PRDP wherein it received a conditional approval.
