To ensure and intensify the preparedness, responsiveness, and awareness of every emergency response agency, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) conducted an earthquake drill yesterday, March 12, as part of the first quarterly drill for the year 2020 at the Vista Mall, Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) and Petron Gasoline Station, Roman Highway.

The drill which took off in Vista Mall, one of the high-stress areas in the province, started with the ringing of fire alarm and announcement of precautionary measures as a signal to do the duck, cover and hold on. People playing the role of mall-goers guided by security guards and safety teams began an orderly evacuation and headcount. After the evacuation and clearing of the site, emergency response team and ambulance brought the acting victims to BGHMC. The drill lasted for 20 minutes.

Another scenario wherein an electrical post fell along the Roman Highway blocking the road going downtown Balanga was managed by the CPSO, PENELCO, and MBDA.

The agencies that took part in the drill are Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Philippine National Police (PNP), Provincial Engineering Office (PEO), Philippine Red Cross Bataan Chapter, Provincial Information Office, CPSO and the safety management and employees of Vista Mall.
