Provincial Administrator Mrs. Ludi Banzon, together with PDRRMO Head Mrs. Josie Timoteo and other officials from the Office of the Provincial Governor traveled all the way from Bataan to Batangas City last Friday, February 7 in a humanitarian mission: to personally handover to Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas a check worth 1million pesos from the Provincial Government of Bataan as donation to the rehabilitation efforts for residents affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano from the main crater on Volcano Island on the afternoon of January 12, (43 years after the 1977 eruption), with the alert level of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology escalating from Alert Level 2 to Alert Level 4.

Gov. Mandanas brought the team from Bataan to the Batangas Sports Complex, one of the relocation sites for the victims of the eruption. The team also saw for themselves the devastations suffered by the people particularly in Talisay.
In his message of thanks to the people of Bataan, Gov. Mandanas said that the donation will go a long way in their rehabilitation efforts. He also mentioned that the friendship between Bataan and Batangas can be traced during the time of the late Cong. Tet Garcia when they were both in Congress and coauthored the bill that seeks a higher IRA share for LGUs which has been enacted into law.
In a related development, Mrs. Banzon shared that part of the province’s initiatives for readiness, resiliency, safety, health, and well-being of the people is the procurement of portable toilets and kitchens that can be transported in different relocation sites in times of emergency of calamity.
