BALANGA City, Bataan – The Bataan General Hospital (BGH), headed by Dr. Glory V. Baltazar, Medical Center Chief, formally opened its Sportsfest 2016 this morning at the Bataan People’s Center, this City.
Dr. Vladimir Untalan, Medical Specialist III and one of the Sportsfest coordinators, led the citation of the Oath of Sportsmanship and the lighting of the symbolic torch.
“I hope that at the end of this weeklong activity, mas lalo tayong maging matatag na institusyon,” said Dr. Baltazar in her opening remarks during the program.
Meanwhile, Dr. Robert Luneta, Chief of Medical Professional Staff, encouraged the participating hospital personnel to continue what they have started, saying, “Ipagpatuloy lang natin ang ating mga gawain, maganda na ang ating nasimulan, andun na tayo eh, kaya ipagpatuloy lang natin.”
“Ang pinaka-goal ng activity na ito ay para magkakila-kilala pa ang mga hospital staff, and other than yung interest nila sa work, dito ay mailalabas din nila yung interest nila when it comes to sports. This would also promote healthy lifestyle through sports,” said Dr. Untalan in an interview.
Anchored on the theme: “Strengthening Unity through Sports”, various events are lined up for the weeklong program such as: basketball, mixed volleyball, bowling, larong pinoy, and cheerdance competition.
BGH is composed of five competing teams namely: Avengers Team, Twilight Team, Star Wars Team, Shrek Team, and Team Frozen.
The awarding ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 7, 3 p.m. also at the Bataan People’s Center.
