CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – President Rodrigo Duterte’s pronouncement after taking helm of power, that he doesn’t want to see people queuing for application, inquiry and asking for help in the different agencies of the government, prompted all national agencies down to the provincial level like the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here in Bataan to review, assess and change their rules, policies, requirements among others to do away with “red tape” to facilitate service among all their clients.
With the many requirements then which used to take 3 days to a week to process the application for a business name, Mr. Gerardo Santos, Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist, said that, now it only takes them 3 minutes to a maximum of 5 minutes to register the business name with only one requirement in addition to the application form.
Santos said that DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, in his speech at a recent Business Forum in Makati, wherein Governor Abet Garcia was one of the speakers, encouraged strict compliance among all DTI officials in the different provinces and cities to the directive of the President.
Ms. Leonor Emdido, Trade and Industry Development Administrator said that the application now of a business name is as easy as ABC; the applicant upon inquiry at the office can already fill-out the application form, present one valid government issued ID, pay and wait for 3 to 5 minutes (depending on the smooth internet connection) and presto! the applicant goes home with the registered certificated of his/her business name.
DTI-Bataan who has been a proponent of notables changes in their department said that their peak season is every January, wherein they process an average of 2,000 applications in a month.
