‘Don’t panic. Practice personal hygiene’

“Don’t panic. Practice personal hygiene. Prevention is better than cure.”
Those were the admonitions of doctors, medical practitioners and barangay leaders on Wednesday’s emergency meeting on coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) conducted by the provincial health office.

Bataan Gov. Abet Garcia said the said emergency meeting was held to provide awareness among local folks about the contagion and to align measures to at least prevent the dreaded disease.
“Besides, we really want to find out if the coronavirus is raging and how fast it is affecting us all,” said the governor in an interview in front of the Bunker building. He added, the issue on coronavirus was tackled in a recent meeting with President Duterte and local officials in Malacanang.

Back to the Balanga gathering of doctors and medical practitioners with members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Dr. Salud Bagalso, owner of Women’s Hospital opined during the open forum that barangay officials play a vital role in preventing the disease “because they know who among the residents who just arrived from abroad,”
Dr. Ariel Ilaya said the residents should not panic because there are still deadly disease other than corona virus, like asthma, tuberculosis and other respiratory ailments.
“Huwag tayo masyadong matakot,” said Dr. Ilaya.

Board Member Rey Ibe of Orani the health officers should explain to the barangay folks what coronavirus is all about. He said as SP member he understands the predicament of local government when it comes to preparation of necessary budget and corresponding legislation.
