CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – Growing up in a middle class family in Naparing, Dinalupihan of this Province, Jehoshua Genotiva Dinglas has always been inspired by his family and his solid faith in his Maker. When asked who are the major influences in his life, he mentioned three: “God, who blesses me abundantly through His riches in Jesus; my family, who always guides and supports me in my endeavors; and my church, who helps me maintain my focus on what’s really important in life.

A consistent honor student and dean’s lister during his college days, Jehoshua graduated from the Bataan Peninsula State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Class of 2010 – 2011. When he took the Registered Electrical Engineer Board Exam in September 2011, he placed second. Recently, he again made it to the top 10 when he placed seventh in the recently released September 2014 Electrical Engineer and Master Electrician Licensure Examination. An  extraordinary achievement, indeed! He is presently connected with the Petron Bataan Refinery, Special Projects Group Department as an Electrical Engineer, a position he has been holding for three years now.

When asked about his formula for success, he simply said, “Work hard, pray harder.” This is in addition to the principles that he live by: To lead by actions, not limited with just words, because well done is better than well said, and “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.” – Colossians 3:23

Asked about his future plans, he wants to start and manage a design and engineering firm (based here in Bataan) which aims to provide contemporary and superior designs recognized for ensuring cost efficiency, adherence to national codes, satisfactory services, and optimum safety.

Incidentally, Jehoshua is a beneficiary of the Iskolar ng Bayan Program of the Provincial Government of Bataan. He says that the program is a very helpful project launched by the local government. Being a scholar for 3 years, it extended essential assistance for his studies at the time when his family was struggling with financial difficulties. With gratitude, he hopes that the scholarship keeps going because the objective of providing educational assistance is great especially to those in need of financial support for their studies.

An exemplary son and citizen, he has this to say to his fellow Bataeños: Never give up and always strive for excellence. No matter how difficult situations in life can be, always remember that challenges are meant to be surpassed. We may often be tempted to give up on our dreams because the obstacles we face seem like impossibilities, but that’s exactly when we need to hold on, persevere, and keep pressing forward. And as we continue towards our goals and aspirations, let’s make it a point to give our best in order to influence “change” and “inspire” the new generation for a brighter future. Lastly, keep in mind that we are not alone for God is with us. Look up and He’s just there. Let’s trust His perfect plans and timing because great things happen when God is in the center.

Carry on, Jehoshua! We are proud of you!
