CAMP TOLENTINO, Bataan – PNP Provincial Director Benjie Silo announced during the Provincial Advisory Council (PAC) meeting last Friday that three (3) barangays in the province of Bataan are already drug free.
These are Brgy. Wawa of Pilar town, Brgy. Pinulot of Dinalupihan and Brgy. Cataning of Balanga City. These barangays, according to PD silo were proclaimed drug free after complying with the parameters set forth by the Dangerous Drug Board (DDB) as provided by Section 8 DDB Board Regulations no.2 series of 2017, otherwise known as “Strengthening the Implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program.”
PD Silo emphasized that these 3 barangays in our province are included in the first 52 barangays in the Philippines to be declared as drug free and will be mentioned by President Rodrigo Duterte in his forthcoming State of the Nation Address (SONA). Governor Abet Garcia, in his short message during this morning’s flag raising ceremony also acknowledged these three barangays.
To intensify his campaign on illegal drugs, President Duterte recently created the 20-member inter-agency committee on anti-illegal drugs (ICAD) and the anti-illegal drugs task force.
President Duterte’s Executive Order states that it is the priority thrust of the government to suppress the drug problem in the country by putting behind bars manufacturers, traffickers and peddlers of illegal drugs and by transforming drug users into productive members of society, as well as the application of proper approaches on the supply and demand reduction strategies under the Barangay Drug Clearing program pursuant to the DDB regulations and other related issuances.
